Salesforce is granting its AI agents unprecedented access to unstructured Slack conversations through new real-time APIs and developer tools. The move aims to transform Slack from a communication platform into an intelligent workplace assistant that can compete more effectively with Microsoft Teams by leveraging the “gold” of conversational data that has previously been inaccessible to automated systems.

Salesforce describes conversational data as “the gold of the agentic era” that has been “locked away in unstructured messages and chats.” The company’s new Real-Time Search (RTS) API directly accesses discussions, files, and channels without requiring formal data exports.
